SUBJECT : Move to put Munger on tourism map

Munger, March 21st: Inaugurating the three-day function of combined 'Aang Mahotsav' and Bihar Diwas at Polo Maidan here on Sunday, minister for panchayati raj Kapildeo Kamat said the government is making an all-out effort to bring Munger on the tourism map of the country. He said being in-charge minister of this district, he also intends to develop the historical spots of the district like Sitakund, Rishikund and Bhim Bandh. "For this, I will request the minister for art and culture art as well as tourism to visit these spots and sanction a project for their development," he said.

Munger SP Ashish Bharti said Bhim Bandh is one of the famous tourist places in the country and the spot abounds in natural beauties including hot springs but due to Maoist activities, the place is not visited by foreign tourists saying he had taken up the matter seriously and is committed to wipe out extremists from the area . Jamalpur SRP Umashankar Prasad , DFO Niraj Kumar, Munger MLA Bijay Kumar Vijay and mayor Kumkum Devi were among others who spoke on this occasion.

Munger DM Amrendra Prasad Singh welcomed the guests and said the functions organised with the help of the state government will surely enhance the glory of this old city. ADM Ishwar Chandra Sharma proposed a vote of thanks.

The most impressive event of the occasion was the one act play by artists of Madhya Nishedh Jagrukta Sanskritik Dal, Shibkund, PS. Dharhara. The troupe with its dozen male and female artists presented a real scene of a family addicted to liquor ruined their life.
