Panjim, November 11, 2017: Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC) Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Thursday announced that the Ministry is working on a National Coastal Mission, with a focus to strike a balance between the environment and development.

Vardhan, addressing the concluding programme of four-day workshop organised by the National Institute of Oceanography, said, “There are various issues pertaining to coast. There are environmental concerns as well as developmental concerns. The mission will focus to strike a balance between the environment and development.”

Later speaking to media persons on the Delhi air pollution, the Minister said there is no need to be panic and that the situation would return to normal in a few days.

“From yesterday to today, things have become better. All this actually gets precipitated because of weather conditions. There was some moisture, which came from Eastern UP and due to wind speed this particulate matter got accumulated in the atmosphere,” he said.

The minister added, “It is expected that in another 24 hours, the wind speed will further improve and with all the measures that are being taken by various governments, the things will be under control.”

He said that the Union government is trying to ensure that the graded action plan is implemented in totality. “I am hopeful that things would be under control. There is no reason to panic. We should take adequate precautions to ensure that we by and large stay indoors and don’t expose our children to too much of the polluted air,” he suggested.

Government has proved beyond doubt that it is anti-Goan and anti-people and that its only aim is to serve corporations that want to make profits by destroying our economies, culture and environment.
