Two-day Eco-tourism festival was celebrated with fervour at Jispa in Lahaul-Spiti. Cultural and sports activities were organised to enthral the audience.

The main attraction of this event was the Miss Himalaya beauty contest, in which 18 participants from different states, were taking part. The final round of beauty contest was held this evening.

Chairperson of the Eco-Tourism Lahaul Festival Committee Rigzin Samphel Heyerpa said the main motive was to organise this event to attract more tourists and preserve culture.

“The traditional games like archery and solo were performed, besides traditional folk culture was displayed on the stage,” he added.

He said after opening of the Rohtang tunnel, the tourist influx would increase in the district and the committee would make efforts to organise such events at a mass level to boost tourism in the district.
