Thiruvananthapuram, January 22, 2018: The state tourism department is adopting a centralized marketing strategy for promotion of eco-adventure tourism for the first time in the state leveraging information and communications technology (ICT) tools including a micro website and promotional videos.

The micro website expected to be hosted in the tourism department's official website in four months' time will have 15 promotional films on eco-adventure trails in north and south Kerala and e-video brochures. A centralized online booking system covering selected ecotourism centres in the state will also be developed.

The state government has already sanctioned Rs 1.95 crore for the project prepared by Invis Multimedia, the department's ICT solution provider, and submitted by the ecotourism wing.

"Several ecotourism center  have own websites and the activities there are also being promoted by both tourism and forest departments. But so far there has been no centralized approach or efforts to such a big extent for campaigning and spreading awareness among both domestic and international travellers," said ecotourism director Pramod P P. Kerala, has a great potential for eco-adventure tourism, which is in fact a controlled and conservation-oriented tourism, necessitating a wide marketing initiative.
