Siliguri (West Bengal), February 26, 2018: The eleventh edition of Rhododendron tourism festival would be held at Noothaley under Maneybong – Dentam constituency, West Sikkim from March 22 to 26, next month.

Senior tour operator Raj Basu Saturday said the festival is being held in Dentam for the fourth time. He added that the festival is being held in the villages which are an extension of the Barsey Rhododendron Sanctuary.

Rhododendron is a common binding factor in the entire eastern Himalayan region including eastern Nepal, Bhutan, Arunachal Pradesh, Darjeeling Hills and Sikkim. “The local people can showcase their heritage and bring forward their good practices in conservation of nature through the festival,” said Basu.

Committee vice president Dinesh Gurung talked about the festival as a biding force for diverse communities of Sikkim and an opportunity to showcase their culture. There will be local huts, local food and drinks, local songs and dances, mountain biking, Rhododendron trails and several touristic activities, he informed.
