March 14, 2018: Madhya Pradesh’s first butterfly park opens for the public in Golapur, Raisen district. It is spread over three hectares of land, and the park houses around 65 species of colorful butterflies and 137 varieties of plants.

Butterfly parks are pollution-free spaces which avoid the use of chemicals or pesticides and play an important role in conserving and breeding species of butterflies. The opening of butterfly park in Raisen district, known for historical sites, will now have an added attraction.

The initiative taken by the forest department to conserve nature will bring people close to ecology and enhance their knowledge regarding different species of plants and butterflies.

The auditorium in the park has also been set up for the children to gain knowledge on nature, butterflies and various plants. Moreover, the arrangements have been made to conduct competitions and events related to nature and environment.

The government also has plans to open an aquarium in the park to attract more tourism.

According to the Forest Minister Gaurishankar Shejwar, the park will give a new identity to the state in the field of ecotourism.

He lauded officers and employees of the Eco-tourism Board which played a significant role in the construction of the facility.
