SUBJECT :A ten-day village fair titled ‘Gramam’ will be organized at Thenmala from May 24. 

Thiruvananthapuram, May 19, 2019: A ten-day village fair titled ‘Gramam’ will be organized at Thenmala from May 24.

Organized by Thenmala ecotourism promotion society (TEPS) under the tourism department, the fair will cover many aspects of village life.

A slew of arts and sports activities have been planned for these days, which will be held from 10am to 9pm every day. Also, there will ten stalls for the visitors offering variety of products.

“It is a trade fair with focus on village products. We will bring indigenous product in the fair. A food festival with a wide range of food items, including forest produce, will also be organized. Kudumbashree has been entrusted to bring dishes made by the local residents, which will be included in the festival. The revenue will be shared with the residents,” said Maneesh C U, an employee of Thenmala ecooturim project.

In connection with the fair, Thenmala ecotourism promotion society will conduct competitions in mobile photography, cooking, high-rope activities, mountain cycling challenge.

A photography exhibition based on theme ‘ village’ will also be organized. Interested people may send application to gramam @teps.in. before May 20. For details, log in at www.thenmalaecotourism.com.

The winners of the competitions will get free passes to visit Thenmala ecotourism centre and other gifts. Also, there will be consolation prizes for participants.

Being the final week of summer vacation, organizers expect huge crowd at Thenmala during the days of the village fair.
