SUBJECT :Governor Ganga Prasad today participated in especial plantation drive organised by Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch(SBJM) at Indrakil Prayag premises at IBM Rangpo on his arrival from Siliguri. 

Gangtok, June 16, 2019: Governor Ganga Prasad today participated in especial plantation drive organised by Sikkim Bihari Jagran Manch(SBJM) at Indrakil Prayag premises at IBM Rangpo on his arrival from Siliguri. He was joined by Forest minister Karma Loday Bhutia and other officials on the occasion.

SBJM president Swaminath Prasad and other executive welcomed the Governor on his arrival, a press release informs.

The Governor, while lauding the initiative taken by Sikkim Bihari Jagaran Manch contributing to the green initiatives of the State government, also appealed every Sikkimese to come forward to sustain the momentum that the State has achieved in increasing the forest cover over the last decade. He further underlined the need to include fruit trees in plantation drive in order to augment the potential of horticulture in the State and making the plantation drive in order to augment the potential of horticulture in the State and making the plantation economically beneficial to the farming community. Incidently, the fruit saplings of various tropical fruits were a part of the plantation drive today. Earlier, the Forest minister also addressed the gathering.
