SUBJECT : World Environment Day was celebrated by EIACP RP Sikkim on Ecotourism at Sikkim Science Centre, Marchak, Gangtok. World Environment is an annual event celebrated in order to raise awareness and promote practices for the protection of our environment.
INTRODUCTION:
5th June 2023 : World Environment Day was celebrated by EIACP RP Sikkim on Ecotourism at Sikkim Science Centre, Marchak, Gangtok. World Environment is an annual event celebrated in order to raise awareness and promote practices for the protection of our environment. This event provides an opportunity to focus on specific environmental challenges such as climate change, deforestation, pollution, habitat, destruction and resource depletion.
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME:
The main objective of the programme was to plant more medicinal plants and to promote #beatplasticpollution through cleanliness drive.
The programme was graced by Principal Director cum EIACP Coordinator Shri D.T. Bhutia, Department of Science & Technology. The participants for the programme were all the staffs from EIACP RP Sikkim on Ecotourism and Sikkim Science Centre. The programme started with an introduction to environment day celebration and followed by planting medicinal plants. The staffs were sensitized about practices in order to save the environment. The programme to an end with cleanliness drive to fulfill the objective of the event #beatplasticpollution. The programme was attended by more than 50 staffs and officials from Department of Science and Technology and Sikkim Science Centre.
