National Technology Day 2023 - Awareness Programme on LiFE

INTRODUCTION:

An awareness programme under the banner “Mission LiFE” (Lifestyle for Environment) was organized by EIACP RP SIKKIM on ECOTOURISM” on 11^th May 2023 on the occasion of National Technology Day at Sikkim Science Centre, Marchak, Gangtok. Mission LiFE was introduced by honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at COP26 in Glasgow on 1^st November 2021. Mission LiFE aims to nudge individuals and communities to practice lifestyle that is synchronous with nature and does not harm it. It is a mass movement that targets “Mindful and deliberate utilization instead of mindless and destructive consumption” to protect and preserve the environment.

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAMME:

The main objective of the programme was to reach out to maximum number of people and educate them about Mission LiFE and its 7 broad themes.

The programme was attended by Shri B.P. Pradhan IFS Secretary, Department of Science & Technology and all the higher dignitaries from various department. Teachers and students from various places within the state participated in the programme. The event started with the introduction on “Mission LiFE” and its 7 themes followed by screening of Mission LiFE videos. The participants were sensitized about the main objective of Mission LiFE. This one day long programme came to an end with the Mission LiFE pledge and making everyone aware about how changing their lifestyle, following Mission LiFE activities and taking responsibility can contribute in proctecting our environment. The number of participants for the programme were 400.
