The Wildlife Protection Act- 1972
The Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972 prohibits hunting of any wild animal in any of its schedules. The killing and trade of any wild animal is punishable with heavy penalties. Wildlife Crime | Penalty |

Hunting of endangered animal, bird, insect etc. anywhere even in private holding |
Encroachment or Large Cardamom cultivation inside a sanctuary or National park |
Hunting of a less endangered animal, bird, insect etc outside a Sanctuary or National park | Jail term for upto 3 years or with fine upto Rs.25000/- |
Cutting of trees, shrubs or herbs within a Sanctuary or National Park without permit |
Collection of transit of medicinal plants from a Sanctuary or National Park without permit |
Grazing in a Sanctuary or National Park with a weapon or without entry permit |
Entering in a Sanctuary or National Park with a weapon or without entry permit |
Possesion of any wild animal, meat, trophy, hide or other animal article |
